Workstations for SolidWorks

Graphics cards (GPUs) in SolidWorks workstations handle rendering, real-time visualization, and tasks like RealView and PhotoView 360 rendering. While gaming GPUs can sometimes be used, they often lack stability and certification for CAD workloads. Instead, professional GPUs like the NVIDIA RTX A-series or AMD Radeon Pro cards are preferred for their optimized drivers, higher precision, and compatibility with SolidWorks’ graphics engine. The right GPU ensures a smoother modeling experience, especially during real-time manipulation of complex assemblies.

Memory or RAM is another vital component. For most standard SolidWorks operations, 32GB of RAM is adequate. However, for large assemblies or when running simulations and analysis tools, 64GB or more may be required. ECC (Error-Correcting Code) memory is optional but recommended for mission-critical environments to ensure data integrity. Fast memory speeds and proper channel configurations can also improve application responsiveness, especially when paired with high-performance CPUs.
